Sizing
While the western industry has popularized oversized woven and pressed saddle pads, ordering a size larger than needed can be detrimental with a pulled wool saddle pad. Oversized pads have increased wear and tear where front and back cinches rub, this can result in uneven pressure on your horse and possibly break the continuous loops the saddle pads are made of. 30 x 30" is suitable for most saddles but 32 x 32" pads are increasingly popular because they can display big brands/designs. If you are unsure about sizing please measure your saddle skirts and reach out to War Knot Wool.

Thickness
Majority of pulled wool saddle pads on the market are made 2" thick, however we are also big fans of 1.5" pads. Every saddle pad will compress with use.
1.5" pads are a great option for those with round backed horses, english riders and those who will only use the saddle pads for special occasions or showing (they require less break-in).

Merino Wool
Merino is a soft and fine wool that makes heavy saddle pads, this is what is traditionally used for pulled wool saddle pads.
Our natural (undyed) merino color options are: brown, off-white, grey and mixed (white/grey).
We also offer 100+ dyed merino wool options that can be seen on the saddle pad design form.

Herdwick Wool
While Herdwick wool isn't a traditional choice for pulled wool saddle pads we have many customers that love it. Herdwick is a course, wiry wool that makes lighter weight pads.
We only offer Herdwick wool in natural (undyed) colors: light grey and dark grey.
